Bandonbridge N.S.
5th Class Trip to UCC EU Hub
As part of their involvement in the Big Friendly Guide to EU Project, 5th Class were been invited to the launch of the Hub in Active European Citizenship in UCC today.

When we arrived, we went straight to the Devere Hall where proceedings got underway. Prof. Emmanuelle Schon Quinlivan, who directs the programme, was master of ceremonies, and spoke to us about all the different aspects of the new Hub in Active European Citizenship.

We listened to a speech by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney TD, who encouraged the students to remember how privileged they are to live in a peaceful, prosperous, democratic country such as Ireland. He reminded the students who important the European Union has been for the creation of peace in Europe, and the securing of rights of all its citizens.

George did a fantastic job representing Bandonbridge NS on stage, and helping the quiz team after Mr. Coveney's speech. He received an award for his fabulous efforts!

Afterwards we got a tour of the beautiful UCC Campus, learning about the famous UCC Mathematician, George Boole, and walking past the Ogham stone exhibition by the Aula Maxima.

We also were treated to some very tasty finger food - which was the cherry on top! The sun shone and we had a fabulous time. Thanks to the Parents Association for sponsoring the bus to UCC - a very worthwhile and inspiring trip for all concerned! See below for more pictures of our day..
