Sixth Class were recently asked to design wild and wonderful birdhouses by the Green Schools committee in relation to the theme of Biodiversity. The aim of this task was to create a safe, suitable and unique birdhouse for the birds that are native to Ireland. The children were encouraged to be as imaginative and innovative as possible while also making their birdhouses practical and accessible for birds, but not for other larger animals such as cats. Ms. Giles chose six winners from the completed designs. She particularly appreciated the effort of labelling and further detail which the children provided. All of the birdhouses were displayed on the wall in our room as seen in the photos below.
